Reflections: Dan

· 1:28

Lush, green and full of life, Tel Dan isn’t what most people picture when they imagine the lands of the Bible.

In this episode of Reflections, we walk through the ancient city of Dan, on Israel’s northern border at the foot of Mount Hermon. A spring flows out from the base of the mountain and feeds a rich, almost tropical landscape of trees and wildlife around the old mound.

Beauty is only part of what makes Dan remarkable. Over the years, archaeologists here have uncovered finds that support the Bible’s truthfulness. They remind us that places like this one, where Abraham came to rescue his nephew Lot, are real places you can still visit today, just as Scripture describes them.

Dan has a darker side too. Behind its beauty is a history of idolatry and sin. Its story is a sobering reminder of how far people can turn from God, even in a place full of His blessings.

📖 Read the passages:

Abraham pursues Lot’s captors to Dan: Genesis 14:14
The tribe of Dan settles the city: Judges 18
Jeroboam’s golden calf at Dan: 1 Kings 12:28–30
